Airport Management

Airports form the link between departure and destination. There are over 8,000 registered airports around the world, ranging from the very small regional airports to the massive cargo hubs such as Paris ADP, Hong Kong, Miami or Frankfurt.

Some operate night curfews which restrict aircraft movements, whilst others operate 24-hours. Airports are like small towns and contain every kind of business related to the travel of both people and cargo. Many airports are the facilitator for the different actors in the air cargo supply chain. The airports derive their revenues from, amongst others, landing fees, real estate, parking and shops. Thanks to cargo many airport communities provide jobs and enable trade to grow for the country and regions.

The career opportunities are varied and include:

  • Ground management including the control of fleets of utility vehicles and equipment on the airport.
  • Sales & marketing to promote the airport internationally.
  • Automation & digitization of the cargo flows.
  • Security in a highly complex environment.
  • Ground handling.
  • Liaison with airlines, forwarders and handling companies.
  • Planning for capacity management and future development.
  • Customs officers, now a highly sophisticated computer based function.
  • Sanitary and health inspection.
  • Veterinary and animal welfare operations.

  • Liaison with government agencies.
  • Control of the environment and safety management.
